‘Ponyo’ is a charming anime film directed by Hayao Miyazaki and produced by Studio Ghibli. It was Released in 2008 in Japan and 2009 internationally. It presents an enchanting story of a goldfish named Ponyo who dreams of becoming human after befriending a young boy named Sosuke

One day, Sosuke takes his toy boat down to the sea and finds a goldfish there. He names her Ponyo, and takes her to school in a bucket. She gets washed back to sea because she’s really the daughter of a magician Fujimoto who lives in the sea. Fujimoto sends his watery minions to fetch her home. Ponyo promptly runs away to be with Sosuke, because she has come to love him.

However Ponyo's determination to become human only grows stronger, and she uses her father's magic to transform into a human girl. As Ponyo's transformation disrupts the balance of nature, the world is plunged into chaos, with storms raging and the moon drawing dangerously close to the Earth. Sosuke and Ponyo embark on a magical journey to restore the balance to the world and fulfill Ponyo's dream of becoming human.
