In the village of Devgarh, there stood an ancient stone well at the edge of the forest. No one used it anymore. The elders said it was cursed—“Once you look into that well after sunset, something looks back.”
But teenagers never believe such tales. So, on Halloween night, Kabir and his friends decided to test the legend. Armed with a flashlight, they walked to the well as the moon hid behind clouds.
“Let’s see who’s brave enough to peek first,” teased Kabir.
When he looked down, all he saw was darkness. But then, something in the water moved. A ripple. Then two glowing eyes stared up from the depths.
He gasped, stepping back. “There’s something—someone—inside!”
His friends leaned closer, but the water was still. They laughed it off and went home. Yet that night, Kabir couldn’t sleep. He kept hearing dripping sounds, like water falling onto the floor.
When he looked under his bed, there was a wet handprint.
He froze. Another drop hit his shoulder—cold as ice. He turned toward his mirror. Behind his reflection stood a figure of water, its face blurry, eyes glowing.
A whisper filled the room: “You looked into my home. Now I’ll look into yours.”
The next morning, his room was soaked, but Kabir was gone. Only muddy footprints led to the door… and a puddle shaped like a human silhouette.
A week later, villagers heard strange sounds from the old well again. When they looked in, the water was crystal clear—and at the bottom, Kabir’s face stared back, smiling faintly.
Now, every Halloween, the well ripples again… waiting for the next one who dares to look.
