Suraj, a ten-year-old boy, had his own room, exclusively built for him by his father, on the terrace of their home in Ooty. This room had a French window overlooking the carrot and potato field of their farmer neighbor. Suraj used to amuse himself watching rabbits scurrying with stolen carrots in their mouths.
It was a Saturday afternoon. Suraj was reading a storybook, sitting on a bamboo couch-cum-swing, when a rabbit suddenly burst into his room. It was in great agitation. To Suraj's shock and surprise, the rabbit started speaking.
"My dear boy, please forgive me for trespassing into your place. A vicious fox is in hot pursuit of me. Could I please hide here for some time? Once the coast becomes clear, I will leave," pleaded the rabbit.
