Hi Kids! My name is Tiko, and I am not like any other frog you’ve seen. You might even call me magical! Want to know why? Well, if you look at my tummy, you can actually see right through me—my heart beating, my tiny stomach working, and even my food being digested. Yes, I am a glass frog!
I live high up in the rainforests of Central and South America. My world is green, wet, and full of secrets. The leaves are my beds, and the raindrops are my lullabies. I am small, no bigger than your thumb, so I have to be extra careful. Birds, snakes, and bigger frogs would love to catch me for a snack. Luckily, my see-through body helps me hide. When I sit still on a leaf, I almost disappear, like a drop of water!
At night, I climb trees and sing my froggy songs. That’s when I look for tasty insects to eat. My favorite part of the night is when the moonlight shines on the leaves and makes them sparkle—it feels like living in a fairy tale.
But do you know what makes me happiest? It’s when I guard my eggs. Unlike many frogs, I stay with them, keeping them safe from ants and wasps. I may be tiny, but my heart is big, and I’ll do anything to protect my little ones.
So, if you ever wander into a rainforest and hear a gentle croak at night, look closely at the leaves—you might just spot me, the frog with a see-through belly, living my magical glassy life.
Moral: Even the smallest creatures have big strengths that make them special.
